I am a late ‘adulting’ bloomer. I’m sure I’m not the first to admit that I feel behind a lot in life at times, even after becoming a parent. I feel like I’m always playing catch up with the cool, real-life adults who always seem to have their shit together. Hashtag goals!
I’m definitely type B, which doesn’t help the situation. I kind of just go with the flow – list making is not one of my organizing strong suits. Regardless, it got me thinking that I’m actually pretty proud of how far I’ve come in the past year in terms of being a better adult overall.
Here are a list of things I’ve added to my arsenal recently that have helped me up my adulting game.
- Thank you & other special occasion cards: My aunt/mom (long story) has always expressed the importance of hand-written notes & cards. I have to say, I’m glad that she did. I haven’t always been the best at actually executing this practice, but I’m getting better. I also am a huge fan of funny, unique cards, so whenever I come across one I try and pick it up to keep in my back pocket for the perfect occasion. I’ve linked the batch of thank you cards I am currently using. Affordable and cute!
- Concurrent doctor’s appointments: Obviously this isn’t an item, but I’ve really been making an effort to keep on top of preventative health. For my kid and my family, if anything else. Your physical health and emotional state of mind is critical in proper care of others! (I say this as someone who could definitely use a therapy session or two…)
- Label maker: I don’t know what life was like before mine. It seems so insignificant, but there’s something about putting fancy titles on everything that feels so official. I like the grunge/vintage look of the one below, but there are so many great choices on Amazon. The dog is lucky I haven’t labeled her yet at this point.
